About Race to Space: Apollo Challenge

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, the mission that landed the first men on the moon, during Northeast Ohio’s premier NASA space camp. Pay respect to the past and use what was learned through Apollo to challenge the future of space exploration.

Using science principles from chemistry, robotics and physics, kids will explore the STEM that powered the first successful moon landing. Apollo Challenge camp will examine different rocket fuel sources and rocketry design. Campers will experience the Star Lab planetarium, make a DIY tech accessory, and learn more about our authentic moon rock and Apollo SkyLab 3 command module in the NASA Glenn Visitor Center.

Using their creative engineering skills, kids will design their own “lunar landing” module to safely deliver “egg-stronauts” to the surface of the moon after a 62-foot drop, and practice driving a robotic rover to obtain their own moon rock samples. Venture deep into technology, chemistry and engineering to find new ways to reach for the stars.

*Includes special NASA 50th anniversary Apollo programming

BIG NEWS! Apollo Challenge campers will enjoy a special presentation and Q&A session from NASA astronaut, Douglas H. Wheelock! Tell your camper to write down every crazy space question they've ever wondered and bring them to camp on Friday, July 19. The meet and greet includes all age groups in our Race to Space: Apollo Challenge camp!
