Spooktacular Science Weekend

Calling all mad scientists! Great Lakes Science Center gets a hair-raising transformation with the return of Spooktacular Science on Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28! Guests of all ages are sure to enjoy this family friendly Halloween-themed party. All activities are included with general admission and costumes are encouraged!

Gross Out Science Spectacular
Location: Cleveland Creates Zone, Level 1
Saturday -- 12:15 pm, Sunday – 1:15 p.m.
Icky, stinky, snotty and gross are the stars of this show while we explore the science behind things that make you say “Ewwww”!

Chemical Concoctions Show
Location: Cleveland Creates Zone, Level 1
Saturday -- 2:15 p.m., Sunday – 2:15 p.m.
This colorful and entertaining demonstration full of potions, brews and crazy chemical concoctions is perfect for all wizards and witches.

Pumpkin Explosion
Location: Harbor, Outside Lower Level
Saturday -- 11:15 a.m. and 3:15 p.m., Sunday – 3:15 p.m.
What happens when you combine chemical reactions, pressure and pumpkins? Stop by to find out in this explosively fun demonstration.

Sounds of the Season
Location: NASA Glenn Visitor Center, Level 1
Saturday -- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday – 1-4 p.m.
We explore the science behind sound as you make your own musical instrument using common items and make them whirl and whine to sound like ghosts and goblins.     

BASF Boogers
Location:  NASA Visitor Center, Level 1
Saturday -- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday – 1-4 p.m.
Slime takes on a whole new meaning when we add a unique science-spin to the chemistry behind these ooey, gooey polymers. Watch in wonder as your slime changes color before your very eyes.

Mad Science Laboratory
Location: Demonstration Labs, Level 2
Saturday -- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday – 1-4 p.m.
You’ll meet our resident “Mad Scientists” when you make your way through the dark room and into the laboratory where science comes alive.

NEORSD Where Does it go?
Location: BioMedTech Gallery, Level 1
Saturday -- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday – 1-4 p.m.
What happens when you flush the toilet? Take our robot for a spin through the obstacle course as you learn about the wastewater treatment process.

Monster Mash Dance Party
Location: Promenade, Lower Level
Saturday -- 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., Sunday – 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Don your dancing shoes and your best costume as the museum gets shaking and grooving to the best seasonal dance songs around.

- Halloween costumes with toy guns and weapons are prohibited.
