Scout Workshops

PLEASE NOTE: scout workshops and overnights for the spring 2017 season are sold out.

These hands-on, engaging workshops allow Scouts to have fun while discovering scientific knowledge while they work toward the requirements of a badge, belt loop or pin. Scouts will complete most of the requirements during the workshop. Badges, belt loops, and pins are not included. Scouts must be accompanied by an adult. Private Scout overnights and discounted group rates for general admission are also available. Contact the Science Center at 216-621-2400 for more information. Minimum group size of 8 is required, cost is $20 per scout, includes general admission.

Boy Scout Private Workshops

Space Explorer: Work toward earning the Space Explorer Badge by learning all about rockets! Find out the different parts of rockets, why we need them, and even launch a water rocket! Figure out what supplies you’d need to survive on another planet, and use teamwork to determine how to build a life-sustaining base there.

Robotics: Work toward completing the Robotics Merit Badge while using the latest LEGO EV3 technology. Use sensors and motors to design, build, program and test a robot to navigate an obstacle course.

Girl Scout Private Workshops

Cadette Woodworking: Swing a hammer, keep it level and light up the night as you make your own nightlight in this girl’s only woodworking course. Learn how to use tools and make simple circuits to help complete your badge requirements. Visit our brand new maker space for inspiration.

Brownie Computer Expert: To warm up your technology skills, learn how to use an online mapping website, find reliable online resources, and send an email greeting card! Once warmed up, use Coreldraw to design your very own bookmark to be cut out of acrylic on our laser cutter!

Junior Entertainment Technology: Have you ever played a piano made up of bananas and a computer? Book this workshop for your chance to try your hand at playing the banana piano! Using the engineering design process, design a MakeyMakey microcontroller to use throughout the workshop.
