CLEVELAND (July 27, 2026) Join us in August as we explore the surprising side of science with our Curiosity Carnival themed programming on August 8 and 9, as well as two sweet family workshops on August 16 and 23.
On August 8 and 9, our Curiosity Carnival will include a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, including:
- Magic of Matter Science Show – how can matter change from one state into the other? We experiment with chemistry and liquid nitrogen to uncover the “magic” behind why some materials behave in unexpected ways.
- Peppergram Cart Activity – use uniquely shaped objects, geometry and light to explore the science behind some 3-D illusions.
- Probability Cart Activity – explore the mathematics of chance, prediction and probability using various objects and devices.
- Magnificent Motion Cart Activity – investigate inertia and force with a seemingly impossible challenge of precision!
- Lucky Duck Scavenger Hunt – track down all the ducks hidden throughout the museum, but be careful! Some of them are there to fool you. Bonus points if you can find the secret supreme duck!
All Curiosity Carnival activities are included with general admission.
August Family Workshops focus on the sweeter side of science. On August 16 and 23, participants in our States of Matter: Ice Cream Science. workshop will explore the properties of solids, liquids and gases in this tasty experience featuring liquid nitrogen! The workshop ends with a sweet treat for participants.
There is a $5 fee for workshops to cover the cost of materials.
NOTE: The States of Matter: Ice Cream Science.treat is made with dairy and chocolate.
