STEM is a vital element of education that stimulates our critical thinking skills, knowledge of current events, creativity and personal growth. Now, more than ever, this type of education is crucial as we navigate this tumultuous time.

While Great Lakes Science Center may be physically closed, our scientific minds never stop working, and we're happy to bring science directly to your homes, with Curiosity Corner LIVE! on YouTube. It’s a daily show where the Science Center’s STEM educators provide informative, interactive videos live for your enjoyment. Want to learn more about human spaceflight, or perhaps see how chemical reactions occur? Or, do you want a sneak peek at Body Worlds Rx, the newest exhibition coming to the Science Center? We've got you covered with all of these and more, every day at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Curiosity Corner LIVE! offers an in-depth look at some of our favorite topics and will showcase some of our most popular live shows from the Science Center, all from the comfort of your own home. Our live Capsule Chat allowed viewers to learn about spaceflight and have their questions answered by our staff. We've shown what we can do with liquid nitrogen, a favorite of both staff and visitors, in order to teach about chemical reactions and the states of matter. Our daring “Bed of Nails” show showed off the science of weight distribution in an exciting and informative spectacle. This is just a taste of what we've shown in the last week, and even more excitement is coming in the future.

Each Curiosity Corner LIVE! video features a live chat log where you can communicate with staff directly and have all of your questions and suggestions answered. This is a great way to stay social while at home and share your knowledge and ideas with other virtual guests. Our staff also provides do-it-yourself activities so you can practice these scientific concepts with your family using supplies you likely already have on hand.

Teachers, this is an ideal opportunity to learn activities you can do with your students when schools reopen, and you can get in touch with other teachers for even more ideas. STEM is a shared passion that is at its best when we all work together to share ideas. We love to teach, but we can learn so much from all of our guests.

Curiosity Corner LIVE! is the perfect way for all of us at Great Lakes Science Center to stay engaged with all of you and provide STEM learning opportunities every day, along with a place to learn from our other virtual guests. Curiosity Corner LIVE! is free and streams on our YouTube channel every day at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., and every previous episode is available as well.
