Welcome to Camp Curiosity Summer Camp for kids entering grades K-3!

All camp sessions have been designed with your child's health and safety in mind. All campers and staff are required to wear facemasks and undergo a daily health screening. All materials and workspaces are sanitized before and after each use and classes use a dedicated space with access to hand washing and sanitizer stations. Social distancing measures are closely followed with small class sizes separated by age, and camp activities are tailored for each age group.

2022 K-3 Summer Camp Sessions

June 6, 2022 – June 10, 2022

LEGO Engineers
Attention all builders! Get creative with LEGO® bricks while exploring science, technology, engineering and math concepts in three-dimensions. Experiment with color, patterns, geometry and physics through dozens of play-based design challenges. Based on content from LEGO® Education.

June 13, 2022 –June 17, 2022

Science Sleuths
Put your science sleuthing skills to the test! Join us for a new, spy-themed challenge each day as we use technology, engineering, art, math and more to crack codes and uncover clues behind the scenes at the Science Center. Each day introduces a new mini-mystery and special spy skillset.

June 20, 2022 – June 24, 2022

Budding Biologists
What can insects and animals teach us about math, engineering and science? Join us to learn about bugs, birds, mammals and more. Learn how fish gills work, identify bird calls, and explore insect mimicry. Discover the many ways scientists borrow inspiration from nature while innovating—then do some animal-inspired engineering of your own!

June 27, 2022 – July 1, 2022

Sphero Young Explorers
Get hands-on with programming! Program Sphero robots to navigate mathematical challenges, explore cause and effect, and experiment with geometry, distance and time. Then tinker with sensors to choreograph a robotic dance, create a light show, code a spirograph, and so much more!

Based on content from Computer Science Foundations curriculum by Sphero.

July 4, 2022 – July 8, 2022

Little Allies
This week is all about empathy, compassion and kindness. How do our differences make us special? What can we learn from each other? Get hands-on with robotics workshops, maker activities and more as we explore strategies for navigating tough emotions, communicating diverse ideas, and supporting each other. Campers will also take home a copy of the “Little Allies” book and some exciting "My Ally Promise" swag!

July 11, 2022 – July 15, 2022

Sports Science: Little Athletes
Discover the science behind your favorite sports! Which muscles help you toss, kick, dash, dribble, or do a jumping jack? How can proper nutrition and hydration make you a better athlete? Participate in real sports and activities, and then break down the science that supports them. Field trips included!

July 18, 2022 – July 22, 2022

Mini Minecraft Engineers
Collaborate as a class to build a unique Minecraft village based on real-world research, experiments and activities! Learn about resources, biomes and structural engineering. Then map out your shared class Minecraft village using blueprints, model it from the ground up, and make a sustainable plan for its expansion. Each day offers a host of new hands-on challenges followed by time working in Minecraft: Education Edition to bring your shared vision to life!

July 25, 2022 – July 29, 2022

The Art of Science
Full STEAM ahead! We're creating art with the help of science, technology, engineering and math. How can machines help us craft creative masterpieces? What's the chemistry behind common colors? Join us for a week full of fun-filled, hands-on experiments to find out!

August 1, 2022 –August 5, 2022

Crazy Coasters
Explore the laws of physics while creating your own theme park! Engineer rides that can spin, rock, roll and turn. Experiment with simple machines, craft a marble run rollercoaster to explore Newton's laws, design and play your own carnival games, tackle mini challenges, and more. Campers will also take a special field trip to Cedar Point this week to explore the science behind real-world rides and games!

August 8, 2022 – August 12, 2022

Out of This World
3..2..1... blastoff! See a real moon rock, investigate a shuttle tile from the International Space Station, drive an RVR robot, and design your own constellation in this week devoted to space exploration. Then engineer and launch a rocket, and even practice landing a rover on Mars—from 60 feet up!

August 15, 2022 – August 19, 2022

Chemistry Basics
Get hands-on with chemistry! Learn about basic lab safety before making (dairy-free) magic milk, brewing colorful bath bombs, and hydrodipping tiles. We'll also learn about dehydration and the role chemistry plays in the human body, and use capillary action to change the color of a white flower.
