Science is all around us – and no one is too young to start exploring! Feed your young scientist’s curiosity with our special youth exhibits!
Polymer Funhouse, for children ages 7 and younger, is a place for young scientists to climb, slide, build and play with polymers. Surround yourself with thousands of colorful balls in the ever-popular ball pond, climb into the lighthouse and experiment with lenses, a periscope and kaleidoscope, play with the gear wall, have fun with costumes in our dress-up area, discover how colors are affected by light, use blue prints to build new structures, relax in our literacy corner and more!
This outdoor play area, adjacent to the Polymer Funhouse, features a variety of hands-on, water-themed exhibits. Climb aboard the Polymer II, a paddle-wheel boat constructed mostly of recycled polymer-based materials, and have fun with the water wheel and balancing buckets. Play with water fountains and water turbines, go fishing for polymers and more. Port Polymer is open Memorial Day through Halloween as weather permits.
Early Childhood Workshops
Jumpstart your young scientist’s education! The Science Center’s free early childhood workshops encourage pre-kindergarten children and their favorite adult to explore the world around them, and are included with general admission!
