Anchor Ball
This year, Great Lakes Science Center celebrates the centennial anniversary of the Steamship William G. Mather! Launched in 1925, “The Ship that Built Cleveland” was an engineering marvel of its time and is now a maritime museum as part of the Science Center. We are proud to preserve the Mather’s illustrious history by offering seasonal tours aboard the ship, and we are developing an exhibit in 2025 to celebrate its heritage and the future of Great Lakes shipping.
The kickoff to this milestone will be The Anchor Ball, a fundraiser to be held at the Science Center on May 22, 2025, where guests will enjoy cocktails aboard the ship, dinner inspired by recipes served during the Mather’s time as a freighter, and an exclusive ribbon-cutting of the new Mather exhibition before it opens to the public for the summer.
