PNC Grow Up Great With Science
Great Lake Science Center is excited to host Pre-K students from across Cuyahoga County for our programming sponsored by PNC’s Grow Up Great with Science. Thanks to their support this program is free of charge to your school, including busing.
Field Trip Details
Groups are typically scheduled to arrive at the Science Center between 9:45 and 10 a.m. The workshops then begin at 10:30 a.m. We will provide you with a full itinerary and map for the day when you arrive. Groups typically depart between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Busing Reimbursement
Thanks to PNC’s Grow Up Great with Science funding, we can reimburse busing costs for all participating groups in our program. Once your program is confirmed, you will receive instructions on submitting your school’s W-9 Tax Form and the invoice from your trip to the Science Center.
***If you are with a Cleveland Metropolitan School, the Science Center team will book buses for you through Tripfinder.***
Program Overview
The “Engineering Challenge: The Three Little Pigs” workshop is perfect for Pre-K learners. It’s a hands-on experience where students listen to the classic story and then become engineers exploring which materials can withstand the “huff and puff” of the Big Bad Wolf.
If your group plans to eat lunch on site during your visit, we will assign a group lunch space for you. We recommend bagged lunches, but we do not provide any refrigerated storage. Please bring your coolers or insulated bags which we will collect and transport for you. Food is also available to purchase on site at the Science Center’s Spark Café.
In addition to your visit to the Science Center, every group participating in our Grow Up Great with Science program receives a Big Science Show at their school for free. The show is called “Bubblemania,” where bubbles come alive while everyone becomes “Bubbleologists” and investigates molecules, shapes and colors. Please note that a space of at least 20 x 20 feet is required along with a high ceiling. Auditoriums, cafeterias and gymnasiums are usually great spaces.
Please complete the registration form here and provide a date that may work for you to visit the Science Center as well as a date for us to bring “Bubblemania” to your school. Field trips and workshops are available October – May and can be booked for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Outreach Bubblemania shows can be scheduled Monday through Friday.
