This spring, guests will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the legendary Ship of Dreams when TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition opens May 21, presented by Bank of America, with additional support from Ohio 529 CollegeAdvantage and BakerHostetler.

The Exhibition offers a powerful and emotional journey through one of history’s most iconic tragedies. The new virtual reality experience, produced in collaboration with Titanic: Honor & Glory, offers a guided tour of the Ship as she would have appeared to passengers boarding on April 11, 1912. This is the first time this VR experience will be available in the United States, debuting this year at museums in Cleveland, Las Vegas, Orlando, Florida, and Portland, Oregon. Set in a 360-degree recreation, Titanic is ready for receive passengers for her maiden voyage across the Atlantic. The VR tour includes areas used by both the passengers and crew, including the First-Class Lounge, Turkish Baths, Boiler Rooms, Engineer Rooms and Wheelhouse. The experience shows rooms in great detail, giving guests a sense of the luxury available onboard. The virtual tour ends in the lifeboats with a view of the Ship in her final moments before she slips beneath the waves of the North Atlantic. It is the most detailed and complete VR tour of Titanic ever created, including areas of the Ship that weren’t previously visible to the public.

Guests can also step into the Science Center’s Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater for the Voices of the Titanic Immersive Experience, which is being offered for the first time anywhere on a domed-format screen. Projected on the DOME’s giant screen, the experience begins with a view of Titanic at sea before passing through the Belfast shipyard where she was built and then a view of her at port, visiting the grand staircase and other areas on board. During the journey through the Ship, passenger accounts tell the story of Titanic and her voyage in their own words, giving guests a firsthand account of the experience.

TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition also explores the contemporary effort to recover artifacts and conserve the site for scientific analysis and historical preservation ensuring future generations can learn from Titanic. In addition to showcasing more than 200 authentic artifacts recovered from the wrecksite, the Exhibition at the Science Center will include the stories of passengers with ties to Ohio, offering a meaningful local perspective on Titanic’s legacy.
