Youth Exhibits
Science is all around us – and no one is too young to start exploring! Feed your young scientist’s curiosity with our special youth exhibits!
Polymer Funhouse
Polymer Funhouse, for children ages 7 and younger, is a place for young scientists to climb, build and play with polymers. Surround yourself with thousands of colorful balls in the ever-popular ball pond, climb into the lighthouse and experiment with lenses, a periscope and kaleidoscope, play with the gear wall, discover how colors are affected by light, use blue prints to build new structures, relax in our literacy corner and more!
Port Polymer
This outdoor play area, adjacent to the Polymer Funhouse, features a variety of hands-on, water-themed exhibits. Climb aboard the Polymer II, a paddle-wheel boat constructed mostly of recycled polymer-based materials, and have fun with the water wheel and balancing buckets. Play with water fountains and water turbines, go fishing for polymers and more. Port Polymer is open Memorial Day through Halloween as weather permits.
New Infant Area
The newest addition to the Polymer Fun House! The infant area is designed for ages 2-years and younger, and includes: Sit Me Up mats, mirrors, a mini reading area with age-appropriate books, and the "Motion 1" activity mat from Safe Space Concepts. This activity mat provides many different physical play opportunities to develop large motor skills in the form of a walk ramp, steps and a tunnel. Infants can also use different diameter tubes and different textured balls to provide a fun, and sensory introduction to concepts associated with motion, gravity and resistance.
